KOKODA

Take the challenge of a lifetime and walk the footsteps of our ANZAC soldiers in WWII, while pushing yourself and making friends for life.

The Kokoda Track or Trail is approximately 96km long and a single-file trail through the Owen Stanley Range in Papua New Guinea (PNG). The trail was the location of battle between the Japanese and Allied forces (primarily Australian) in 1942. Running through rugged and isolated terrain, this trek can be described as difficult and certainly challenging. The weather can also range from hot and humid, to cold at night, with potential heavy rainfalls – another way the track is testing for those who undertake it.

This destination is for those who have a moderate to stronger base level of physical fitness, which the 8 weeks of pre training will help you attain, and is for those looking to push themselves to excel. Whilst the trek and the sentiment behind its history are not to be taken lightly, this holiday will give you the opportunity to disconnect from your day-to-day life at home and experience something truly unique, and ultimately satisfying upon completion, as tour leader Marcus can attest; he has completed 9 previous treks and is the right person to help you across the line.

What people are saying

“After many years of contemplating I decided to commit to the Kokoda trip and to say it was one of my better decisions is an understatement. Before getting on the plane our group didn’t really know each other that well, but that soon changed because by the end of it, no word of a lie it was like I had a new family and people who Im sure I will still be friends with for the rest of my life.

The track itself was hard and amazing, yes everyone had a day where they struggled a bit, but the comradeship between the group and Marcus and his crew were unbelievable, it just got you through. The Highlight for me was seeing how the PNG people lived their lives, makes you step back and think what is important.

Anyone thinking of taking the step I highly recommend it and you will not regret it. Marcus and his team made the trip all the more special teaching you all the history in detail and having an absolute ball along the way. The memories we made will be forever remembered, its hard to forget the magnificent views and amazing friendships made.”

“The hardest, most difficult and THE best experience of my life!

The unwavering positive energy, belly laughs, support and comradely was inspiring. I was in awe of Marcus and his incredibly professional team. To work in such a way that I didn’t have to think and I had 100% trust and confidence in their ability.

Don’t overthink… just do! Your inner strength will come through.

Kokoda will change you!.”

“Kokoda was something I had always wanted to do it was just a matter of the right time, obviously having battled some mental health issues this was an enormous challenge for me. Marcus was so helpful in providing me with some equipment and preparing me for what was ahead. Once we got into PNG it was honestly the trip of a lifetime and an experience I’ll never forget, not only did I make some lifelong friends I also achieved something amazing and to be honest something I can’t put into words. The experience the health and fitness holidays was incredible and honestly I don’t know if I would of got through the challenge if it wasn’t for the Anzac spirit shown by my fellow trekkers and the beautiful fuzzy wuzzy angels. I can’t recommend this trip enough to anyone that asks how it was, the guys at Health and Fitness Holidays were just incredible and they have provided me with a life long memory, so for that I can’t thank them enough. ”
